Attorney general: Almalena Sharmila appointed solicitor-general effective October 2

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 — Solicitor-General II Datuk Almalena Sharmila Johan has been appointed as the new Solicitor-General effective October 2.

Attorney General (AG) Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh said Datuk Suzana Atan has, meanwhile, been appointed as Solicitor-General II replacing Almalena, also effective October 2.

"The appointments are in line with the Directive on the Transfer of Legal Officers No 107 and 108/2023. All members of the Attorney-General’s Chambers congratulate this appointment,” he said in a statement today.

Almalena, who was previously head of the Advisory Division of the Attorney-General’s Department, was appointed as solicitor-general to replace Ahmad Terrirudin, who officially began his duties as attorney general on September 6.

Before this, Almalena, who represented the Attorney General’s Department, joined Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and Malaysia’s ambassador to Spain Datuk Akmal Che Mustafa on a trip to Madrid, Spain to handle the Sulu claimants’ dispute.

Suzana, meanwhile, was the senior federal counsel who handled civil cases and election petitions. — Bernama
