KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — Unity activity centres nationwide will be upgraded to stimulate more unity and social activities in the community, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The prime minister in tabling the 12th Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review (12MP) in Parliament today said the upgrading is an effort to foster and nurture the spirit of unity based on the principles of "rahmah” (kindness).
He said it is also part of the key subject that the government is working on to ensure well-being is in line with the idea of Malaysia Madani.
According to Anwar, various additional efforts including the appreciation of the spirit of Rukun Negara, the Kembara Perpaduan programme and youth unity activities will also be intensified to foster the spirit of unity.
"The Perlis Unity Complex will be built as a unity hub in the northern zone that will centralise unity programmes and machinery including community mediator operations and Rukun Tetangga areas as well as nurseries and childcare centres,” he said. — Bernama
