KLANG, Aug 13 — Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the unity coalition is considering mounting a legal challenge to annul the results in seats narrowly won by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the recently concluded state elections.

When asked about the possibility of future legal action, Amirudin did not dismiss such attempts in the future.

"I was informed that there are several matters that could be considered for an election petition by our legal team including the issue of unreturned ballot papers in Sungai Kandis and extremely narrow margins of vote in Gombak Setia and Taman Medan.

"But I’ll leave it to the legal team to take the necessary action,” he told reporters at a press conference here.

According to the Election Commission’s official result, Perikatan Nasional (PN) won both the Taman Medan and Gombak Setia state seats with a 30 and 58 vote majority respectively.

Amirudin said the unity coalition’s performance was commendable as it was able to withstand the challenge mounted by PN.

He said this was evident through the results of several seats won by PN that had less than 200 votes.

Despite not having the necessary seats to form a two-thirds majority in the state assembly and short of its target, Amirudin said the coalition will scrutinise further those seats it narrowly lost to PN.
