KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 ― Traffic flow on several major highways is reported to be smooth with no congestion this morning, ahead of polling day for the state election in six states tomorrow.
A spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) informed that the traffic flow at Jalan Duta Toll Plaza (northbound), Sungai Besi Toll Plaza (southbound) and Gombak Toll Plaza (East Coast bound) was smooth and under control and there was no increase in the number of vehicles.
"For those heading for the East Coast, the Gombak and Bentong Toll Plazas are still clear and not congested. So far, traffic flow along the KL-Karak Expressway (KLK) and the East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) towards Kuantan is also smooth,” he told Bernama today.
He said there was a slight traffic congestion on the KL-Karak Expressway heading towards the federal capital, but it was due to an accident.
Meanwhile, the official Twitter account of PLUS Trafik said traffic is also moving smoothly and is only slow due to a vehicle breakdown and an accident at KM4 of the Penang Bridge in the east direction from the island heading to Perai.
It said a trailer had also broken down at KM231 southbound from Changkat Jering to Kuala Kangsar causing the left lane to be blocked, but otherwise, traffic was under control.
According to PLUS, an accident which occurred at KM 266.2 southbound from Bandar Ainsdale heading towards Seremban, involving two heavy vehicles, had caused the left and middle lanes to be blocked and traffic was slow from 6.30 am today.
However, the flow of traffic in the area was smooth again once the cleaning operation was completed.
Meanwhile, a check by Bernama found that the traffic flow from Gombak Toll Plaza towards the East Coast was smooth and under control.
After about an hour at the Gombak Toll Plaza, there was no increase in the number of vehicles and the traffic was moving as usual without any congestion.
Following that, a check by Bernama at Jalan Duta Toll Plaza (northbound) and Sungai Besi Toll Plaza (southbound) also saw smooth traffic flow this morning. ― Bernama
