MELAKA, Aug 5 — More than 2,000 visitors enlivened the launch of the 2023 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign at the Dataran MBMB, Ayer Keroh tonight.

The state-level celebration was officiated by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, with Broadcasting director-general Suhaimi Sulaiman and state leaders also present.

In his speech, Ab Rauf said the Jalur Gemilang is a symbol of nationhood that could awaken the spirit of patriotism and solidarity in the hearts of Malaysians to face all obstacles.

Therefore, various activities have been lined up for the national month celebration to foster the spirit of patriotism.

"Anugerah Semarak Gemilang will be awarded to those who adorn their homes or buildings with the Jalur Gemilang,” he said.

Ab Rauf said the assessment would be done by the Information Department Secretariat, and the chosen individuals and organisations would receive RM3,000 each.

Meanwhile, the public was also entertained by the Melaka Gegau Concert, which featured artistes such as Ramlah Ram, Marsha, Santesh and Datuk Nash. — Bernama
