KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — Chinese workers in Malaysia’s formal sectors earned the highest median wage by ethnicity for the first quarter of 2023, according to a Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) today.

The department’s report on employee wages statistics for the formal sectors showed that ethnic Chinese formal workers had a median monthly wage of RM4,745 in January, which dipped to RM4,000 in March and February.

Ethnic Indian workers had the next highest median monthly wage, with RM2,727 for January and RM2,500 for the next two months.

Malay workers came next, with a median monthly wage of RM2,300 in January, RM2,164 in February, and RM2,200 in March.
