KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — Workers in Kelantan recorded lower median monthly wages as compared to all other states in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2023.
According to the employee wages statistics for the formal sectors report issued by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), the median monthly wages for Kelantan did not show any changes and remained stagnant for the month of January, February, and March at RM1,600.
Kelantan was among the states in Malaysia that have not exceeded the RM2,000 median monthly wages in the first three months of the year.
The other states are Perlis with the highest median monthly wages recorded in January at RM1,645, Sabah (RM1,864 in March), Kedah (RM1,900 in January) and Terengganu (RM1,900 in March).
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest median monthly wages for all three months in the first quarter and was the only state to hit the RM4,000 median monthly wages mark in January.
In February, the median monthly wages in Kuala Lumpur dropped to RM3,827, but increased again in March to RM3,927.
