GOMBAK, July 29 — The Sungai Tua state assembly seat will see a three-cornered contest in the upcoming state elections.
The candidates are Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Hanif Jamaluddin, and Independent Suman Gopal.
Amirudin, as the incumbent, is defending the seat.
The Gombak MP said PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) will take advantage of the winning momentum from last year’s general election to win the seat.
"Based on our performance last year, and if we keep our momentum going, we are confident to achieve our target (in winning the seat),” he said.
All Sungai Tua candidates submitted their candidacy forms here today at SMK Sungai Pusu.
The Election Commission (EC) has set August 12 as the polling date for the state elections in Selangor, Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu and Negeri Sembilan as well as the Kuala Terengganu by-election.
