KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — The Selangor Royal Office today said the matter between PAS politician Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and state monarch Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah is not yet over.
The palace said Sultan Sharafuddin gave an audience to Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi and the state police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan at Istana Bukit Kayangan here.
"This separate meeting discussed the statement issued by the Menteri Besar of Kedah, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor in one of his talks in Selangor recently, which was considered insulting to the Selangor Royal Institution.
"His Royal Highness said that this matter is not yet resolved,” it said in a statement.
The matter between the Selangor Ruler and Sanusi who is currently the caretaker menteri besar of Kedah is said to have started during a recent Perikatan Nasional (PN) programme in the state where it is the Opposition, ahead of the August 12 vote.
Sanusi was alleged to have criticised the Selangor Sultan’s decision to appoint Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition as the state menteri besar.
Sanusi, who is also PN elections director, has since issued an apology to the Selangor Sultan, but asserted that his remarks were taken out of context by his political rivals.
PN is competing against the "unity government” formed last November by PH and Barisan Nasional in next month’s six state elections involving Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
