In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Sanusi said the apology was relayed via a letter sent to the Selangor palace and read by the Ruler yesterday.

"As soon as I found out my speech was twisted by my rivals from Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional I decided to explain myself to the King.

"I was told by the Palace officials that the King had received my apology letter,” he said in a statement adding that out of respect for the King, he would not share the contents of said apology letter online.

"Apart from that I've given my statement to an investigative officer at Bukit Aman at 2pm on July 14,” he added.

In a recent programme in Selangor, Sanusi was alleged to have criticised the Sultan of Selangor for appointing Amirudin as its menteri besar.
