The Proton X70 1.5 TGDi Premium X 2WD is officially priced at RM126,800 on-the-road without insurance (Peninsular price) and it sits right between the 1.5TGDi Premium 2WD and the 1.8TGDi Premium 2WD. This is essentially the highest variant for the 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo engine option and it comes with a panoramic sunroof which was previously exclusive to the 1.8TGDi Premium 2WD.

To reference, here’s a recap of the pricing for all six Proton X70 variants that are sold today:

1.5TGDi Standard 2WD – RM98,800

1.5TGDi Executive 2WD – RM110,800

1.5TGDi Executive AWD – RM116,800

1.5TGDi Premium 2WD – RM123,800

1.5TGDi Premium X 2WD – RM126,800

1.8TGDi Premium 2WD – RM128,800

Essentially, you are paying RM3,000 extra for the sunroof on top of the Premium 2WD model. It’s also merely RM2,000 cheaper than the 1.8L 4-cylinder turbo-powered Premium model. If you don’t like Quartz Black, the Premium X is also offered in Space Grey and Snow White.

To recap, the 1.5L TGDi engine produces 174hp and 255Nm of torque, while the 1.8L TGDi engine produces 181hp and 300Nm of torque. According to Proton, the 1.5L 3-cylinder engine offers 7 per cent reduction in fuel consumption in urban cycle and it can heat its peak torque earlier at 1,500rpm versus 1,750rpm on the 1.8L engine.

The rest of the X70 remains pretty much unchanged as the Premium X still gets Nappa leather seats, 8″ infotainment system, power tailgate, boss switches and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as autonomous emergence braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, door opening warning system and blindspot information system.
