KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 — Ethnic Malays do not need to be afraid of DAP since the party has had a good track record throughout Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) administration of Negeri Sembilan over the past five years.

Caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the apprehension that has emerged is merely a narrative played up by DAP’s opponents to garner Malay votes in the upcoming state polls.

"The Malays should not be afraid of DAP. We stand with them as partners to administer the state peacefully and harmoniously.

"This is proven, as we as the Negeri Sembilan state government have managed to increase revenue from the state’s investments, zero corruption and more,” he was quoted as saying by Malay daily Utusan Malaysia in an interview published today.

He said the racial issue played up by certain quarters as a narrative is aimed at wresting control of the state from PH which has now partnered with former arch-rivals Barisan Nasional (BN).

He said Perikatan Nasional’s target of 18 seats was merely statistical and the coalition’s struggle for the Malays was not what it appeared to be.

"This is undeniable when the politics of old are filled with racism and fear-mongering with much hatred.

"So much so that the blame falls on DAP even though DAP is not actually guilty.

"That is why I am saying, if we look back, there is nothing to be afraid of,” he said.

Negeri Sembilan has 36 state seats which saw PH led by Aminuddin controlling 20 seats (DAP-11, PKR-six, Amanah-three) followed by BN)16 seats (Umno-15 and MIC-one) before the state assembly’s official dissolution on July 1.
