KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 — Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Datuk Zulkapli Mohamed said that his department will be looking into the claim that a few press secretaries to ministers have not been paid.
He told Berita Harian that the process will allow swift action to be taken against all parties involved.
"We will check and get full information so that swift action can be taken,” he was quoted as saying.
Besides that, the report cited an unnamed source who expressed shock at the news over the unpaid press secretaries.
The source reportedly said that the issue was not mentioned by any official during the most recent meeting held around two weeks ago.
They added that the issue should have been put through the proper channels instead of being publicly aired.
"Such issues should be raised in press secretary meetings and resolved internally.
"They are professionally appointed and it is necessary for all parties to serve professionally,” they were quoted as saying.
Yesterday, Free Malaysia Today reported several press secretaries to ministers as saying that they have not been paid since the current unity government took power.
An aide reportedly said the press secretaries had already been informed that the delay was caused by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim not having signed their letters of appointment yet.
