PETALING JAYA, July 2 — Investigations into the former US Navy Seal who was arrested for carrying unloaded gun magazines in his luggage have been completed, Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said.

He confirmed this when contacted by The Star news organisation today.

"It has been completed. Tomorrow, it will be referred to the DPP (Deputy Public Prosecutor) for any charges,” he said.

CBS Austin reportedly said that US citizen and Navy veteran Ryan Bates was detained at a Malaysian airport on Thursday while attempting to return to Henderson in the US state of Nevada.

Bates’ wife Dianna was reported as saying she had not heard from her husband since he was escorted away at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) late Thursday evening.

It was learnt that Bates was working with Netflix to film a documentary series entitled The World’s Toughest Forces.

Bates reportedly also posted details of his initial detention in a series of videos on social media.

"I’m being detained because I had military gear coming into this country. They’re trying to figure out why I have all of this stuff. It sucks,” Bates reportedly said on social media in the videos while Malaysian officials are seen going through his luggage.
