CHERAS, June 23 — Selangor PH chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari today said it is not impossible for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) to not only retain the state, but win a two-thirds majority with their alliance.
The caretaker Selangor menteri besar said the result is doable and reachable, even as he said he cannot deny the possibility of keeping the state with less than a supermajority.
"It's realistic. If we convert from the last state elections by combining both PH and BN’s seat wins, it is doable.
"There are some parties doubting that it will happen, and this is probably the time for PH and BN to work very closely and win the voters’ hearts,” he told reporters after performing Friday prayers at the Bandar Tun Hussien Onn Mosque here.
Responding to Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin saying the opposition pact is ready to defend and capture all six states in the state elections, Amirudin said PH is confident of defending Selangor.
"Of course we are ready to defend Selangor from our rivals. We will try our best. Hopefully in the coming months, we’ll see who the Selangor government is.
"We are most ready with our plans, strategy and performance to win back the heart of voters and cast us in the ballot box,” he said.
There are 56 seats in the Selangor state assembly, 45 of which are held by PH and BN.
