KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — Former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today said that he was never summoned by the party's disciplinary board after his suspension.

Hishammuddin said that the party's suspension process typically involves appealing to be reinstated and presenting the case to the disciplinary board.

"All I know is that we have to apply to be accepted again. Secondly, it has to be brought to the disciplinary authority.

"But for me, until today I don't know why I was suspended and when I was suspended in the first place, the disciplinary committee didn't want to call me to investigate. So, I am not sure whether what was expressed recently is sincere or not.

"I never saw the reason to put my fate in the hands of the disciplinary board when the supreme council suspended me without referring to the former,” he told the reporters at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Hishammuddin added that the calls for sacked members to return to the party may stem from grassroots feedback, suggesting that some party members desire their return.

"Maybe the grassroots want us back in the party.

"For those who were suspended or sacked including myself, we have nothing to lose. If the leadership really needs our services, sarcastic responses or conditional offers don’t mean anything,” he said

On June 10, Bernama reported Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as saying that the party is open to the possibility of reinstating members who were previously suspended.

He said Umno disciplinary board will carefully review each appeal and the party's Supreme Council will make the final decision.

The deputy prime minister also confirmed that Umno has not received any appeals from former members who were expelled from the party.

Other individuals, such as Datuk Maulizan Bujang and Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Shariff, were also suspended, while Khairy Jamaluddin, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, and Tan Sri Noh Omar were sacked from the party.
