PUTRAJAYA, June 5 — The body of a man who was reported missing while trying to save two girls who were drowned while swimming at Bagan Lalang beach, Sepang, Selangor, yesterday, was found at about 9.30 this morning.
Sepang district deputy police chief Supt Md Noor Aehwan Mohammad said the body of Muhammad Faizal Mahasan, 29, was found floating by the public on the beach near the Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort.
"The body was then brought to the beach at about 9.50 this morning for an examination by the Ministry of Health (MOH) official who then confirmed the death,” he said in a statement today.
Md Noor Aehwan said the body was taken to Serdang Hospital for post-mortem.
Yesterday, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre (PGO) reported that two girls, aged nine and seven, drowned while a man in his 30s went missing while swimming at Bagan Lalang beach.
Md Noor Aehwan said the department received the report yesterday at about 2.34pm and mobilised search and rescue (SAR) operations.
He said that the SAR operation resumed at about 7 this morning using two lifeboats and was followed by a search operation along the coastal area. — Bernama
