KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying today expressed pride in her father Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang over him being awarded with the "Tan Sri” title.
The title was the result of his service to the country he loves, she said in a heartfelt post on her official Facebook page.
"Your extraordinary performance and contributions to the country’s world of politics have been proven with the award of the ‘Tan Sri’ title from the Yang Di-Pertuan Agung,” she said.
The post was accompanied by a picture of the father and daughter together in their ceremonial attire at Istana Negara.
Her brother, DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng, shared their father’s post thanking everyone for their wishes, with the comment: "Proud of you Dad!”
Earlier today, Lim Kit Siang was among 839 individuals who were conferred federal awards, honours and medals for 2023 in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s official birthday today.
Lim was one of 26 recipients of the Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota which carries the title "Tan Sri”.
He received the title months after his retirement from politics, following his party DAP’s convention for its leaders to not accept such awards while still serving voters.
