KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — DAP’s Lim Guan Eng today praised Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad for dismissing speculation of a move to topple his administration following a purported meeting between Perak PAS Commissioner Razman Zakaria and a few assemblymen from the unity government.
The DAP chairman said that Razman is motivated to destabilise the Perak state government for political self-interest with his claims as he declined to state the number of assemblymen or their names.
"Razman has a rich history of being proven to be a serial inveterate liar who loves to make up stories.
"In the past, Razman has not only unconditionally withdrawn but also apologised to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the malicious lies that Anwar supported the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and being a communist.
"Razman was ordered by the sessions court in Ipoh to pay RM200,000 in defamation damages to former Perak menteri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin in 2017,” he said in a statement here.
Lim added that Razman was ordered by the High Court in Penang to pay RM250,000 in damages and issue a public apology over a defamatory posting against him last year.
Lim said that the anti-hopping law in force in Perak would nullify any basis for toppling the government.
Lim also said that Saarani and the state government will not be distracted by Razman from their work in improving the lives of the public and bringing in development.
"There is no point in wasting time on those who weave stories from lies and empty talk,” he said.
Earlier today, Saarani dismissed the claim made by Razman yesterday as there was no basis for his claim and urged all parties to refrain from any controversial opinion that only served to create confusion and unrest among the people.
