MELAKA, May 11 — The Netherlands ambassador to Malaysia, Jacques Werner is keen to help the Melaka government organise interesting and interactive events at Stadthuys Museum here.
Werner said he was willing to share his experience, knowledge and expertise to enhance visitors’ experience and would help any institution or individuals towards that purpose.
"We will try to help improve on whatever is already available in Melaka and find ways to bring back any historical relics that were taken during the war.
"Obviously it’s not up to me to decide... but I can try to approach people or institutions who are willing to share their collections, since I notice there is a great desire (from the state) to have more artifacts from the Netherlands to be displayed in this museum (Stadthuys),” he told the media when met after an exhibition workshop at Stadthuys Museum here today.
Also present were State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee deputy chairman Datuk Zaidi Attan and Melaka Museum Corporation chairman Datuk Akramuddin Abdul Aziz.
In welcoming the move, Zaidi said the Stadthuys building is a popular landmark and tourist attraction in Melaka.
"We hope with the cooperation of the Dutch embassy we will be able to improve the quality of exhibits and the museum itself,” he said. — Bernama
