KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff today questioned the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition if it did not feel exhausted in repeatedly trying to dislodge the government through irregular means and failing.

The director-general of the Community Communication Department in the Prime Minister’s Department — better known by its Malay abbreviation as J-Kom — asserted that PN has not acted as an effective Opposition through checking and balancing the government, but would rather continue to create public anxiety and rattle investor confidence in Malaysia, affecting the country’s economic recovery.

"If the PMX who aspires to make Malaysia a corruption-free country is to be overthrown, what else can be expected from these politicians, especially those who claim to fight for Islam,” he wrote on Facebook, referring to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th prime minister.

"I ask, aren’t the Opposition leaders tired of trying to return to power every day? You failed when you were in power 33 months ago and the people were forced to raise white flags and now you want to tebuk atap 2.0,” using a Malay colloquialism for a backdoor government.

Agus called on PN leaders to focus on nation-building to provide stability and progress for now and abide its time till the 16th general election if it wanted to take back control of Putrajaya.

He said that if the Opposition is confident it has the numbers to oust the Anwar administration, it should prove it by tabling a no-confidence vote against Anwar in Parliament.

"If you don’t have the confidence to do it, my advice is to accept the reality that PN is the Opposition,” he said.

Agus’ statement comes after a now-deleted cryptic Facebook post from Bersatu leader Dr Muhammad Faiz Na’aman yesterday who reportedly wrote "It has reached 126, if true Alhamdulillah”.
