KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 — Nurul Syazwani Noh, the daughter of former Selangor Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar, is expected to run for a Selangor seat on a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) ticket in the upcoming state election.
An unnamed source said Nurul Syazwani, who is the Tanjung Karang Bersatu Srikandi Muda chief, will contest a state seat under her father’s old Tanjung Karang parliamentary constituency, Utusan Malaysia reported today.
"Yes, her name is on the list, but let the central leadership announce it," the source was quoted as saying.
The Tanjung Karang federal constituency has two state seats namely Sungai Burong and Permatang.
Noh told the Malay newspaper that he would not prevent his daughter if she wanted to run for elections but would instead help her campaign.
"I did not tell nor stop my daughter from contesting and venturing into this field, that is her right and I will not interfere.
"As a father, I will definitely help her in the campaign, if her name is listed to contest in the upcoming state election,” he was quoted as saying.
Nurul Syazwani was reported to have switched parties to Bersatu after Umno sacked her father in January.
