KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 — Human Resources Minster V. Sivakumar has given his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) this morning, according to news reports.

He was said to have been at the MACC headquarters at 10am today to assist with investigations over alleged corruption involving foreign worker recruitment by former staff of his ministry.

"He was here to help investigators complete their investigations after the MACC arrested three individuals, two of whom were his officers last week," a source told Sinar Harian.

On April 13, an aide to Sivakumar was arrested together with a recruitment agent by MACC allegedly over quota for recruiting foreign workers, which was the purview of the Human Resources Ministry.

A day later another suspect identified as Sivakumar’s female private secretary became the latest person to be arrested by the anti-graft agency since investigations began.

Malaysiakini reported MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki as confirming the arrest and remand of the latest suspect.

Sivakumar has confirmed that an officer from his ministry had been arrested by the MACC but declined to elaborate on the arrest as the matter is now under MACC investigation.
