Agong, Raja Permaisuri extend Songkran greetings to Thai community

KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 — Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah extended their Songkran greetings to the Thai community in the country.

In a post on Istana Negara’s Facebook, Their Majesties hoped that the festival will bring peace, happiness and prosperity to all who celebrate it.

There are 60,000 people of Thai descent in Malaysia, with a large number residing in Kedah and Perlis.

Songkran, known as the water festival, is a Thai New Year that is celebrated for three days starting April 13 every year. — Bernama
