Former Perlis MB Azlan Man arrives at Sessions Court in Kangar to face corruption charge

KANGAR, April 10 — Former Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man arrived at the Kangar Court Complex here this morning to face a charge under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.

Clad in a light blue shirt and dark blue slacks, Azlan who came alone, arrived at the court complex at 8.15am and went straight into Session Court 1.

Also present were former state assemblyman for Kayang Hamizan Hassan and former press secretary to the Perlis Menteri Besar Saiful Daniel Mohd Yusof who was also a Barisan Nasional candidate for the Sena state seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He will be charged before Judge Norsalha Hamzah.

Azlan is represented by lawyer Burhanudeen Abdul Wahid, while the prosecution will be handled by MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib.

Azlan, 64, was the Pauh assemblyman from 2013 to 2018, before winning the Bintong state seat in 2018. He failed to defend the seat in GE15.

Azlan who was Perlis Menteri Besar from 2013 to 2022 also failed to defend his Kangar Umno chief post in the party’s election recently. — Bernama
