PUTRAJAYA, April 6 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Dr Wan Ismail today took time off from their busy schedule to break fast with academics, scholars, ulama and Islamic Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Seri Perdana, here today.
The breaking of fast ceremony was attended by about 1,000 guests, including Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.
The list of guests included staff from ministries and government agencies, including the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Tabung Haji, Department of Islamic Development Malaysia and Islamic NGOs, including the Malaysia Indian Muslim Youth Movement.
The ceremony was also attended by 20 children from the Rahoma Darul Fakir Malaysia Organisation orphanage in Kampung Datuk Keramat, Kuala Lumpur.
Anwar also spent time to mingle with members of NGOs, ministry staff and NGOs that came forward to hand in Aidilfitri contributions to the orphaned children, before performing the Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers that was led by the 2011 International al-Quran Recital competition winner, Amir Rahman Abbas. — Bernama
