From preliminary checks, he said the incident in the video footage originated from a foreign country.

"The Johor police contingent had detected the viral video related to a bridge collapsing and being swept away by currents on the Tik Tok application under the handle "naturelikeit” that was uploaded on December 22.

"This did not happen in Malaysia,” he said in a statement today.

Kamarul Zaman advised the public to refrain from spreading fake news or messages that can cause panic and fear.

"Police will not hesitate to take action under applicable laws,” he said.

Earlier, a 20-second Tik Tok video showing a bridge collapsing and being swept away by flood waters made its rounds on social media.

The incident was said to have occurred in Johor after continuous heavy rains for the past 24-hours.
