MACC: Two officers nabbed for bribery over driving licence issuance

SHAH ALAM, Feb 8 — Two senior assistant enforcement officers of a government agency have been arrested for allegedly taking money from driving test candidates on a promise that they would definitely get their licence.

According to sources, the two, a woman and a man in their 40s, were arrested at about 3pm today when they turned up to give their statements at the Selangor headquarters of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here.

The sources said one of the suspects was believed to have collected RM1,750 while the other received RM750.

Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim confirmed the arrests, saying the two would be produced at the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court tomorrow morning for a remand application.

A female part-time worker and a male instructor of a driving school had been arrested earlier for a similar offence. — Bernama
