KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 — Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has once again called on Umno leaders and members to embark on a renewal of the party together with him.
In an immediate response to a poster of Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani as president being circulated in the party's annual general assembly that is currently ongoing, Zahid said the party will always tolerate differences of opinion with those who are with the leadership.
"The important thing is that we can do this reset together.
"I have a position and belief that it is better for us to make drastic changes together if there are any immediately,” he told reporters at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur lobby today.
A poster depicting Johari as president, Zahid’s challenger in 2018 Khairy Jamaluddin as deputy as well as Shahril Hamdan as the Youth chief was circulated to the delegates yesterday.
However, Johari, when met by the media, declined to comment.
Umno information chief Isham Jalil earlier today challenged those who intend to contest the top two party positions to announce their candidacy at the party’s annual general assembly.
