KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 — Just days after the Light Rail Transit (LRT) broke down, the Mass Rail Transit (MRT) experienced the same today.
Hundreds of stranded commuters were left confused as to why trains malfunctioned on all lines.
Twitter user @PointMHD, one of the commuters who were stranded tweeted at 6.59pm that an MRT train initially halted at Muzium Negara, before they stopped moving on all lines.
"MRT stuck at Muzium Negara. People got removed from the train," @PointMHD wrote.
At 7pm, @PointMHD posted again asking RapidKL what was happening, as trains on both lines heading to Kajang and Kwasa Damansara were not moving, resulting in commuters being stuck for over 30 minutes.
Following commuters complaints, @AskRapidKL, RapidKL's official customer support informed the public that one of its trains experienced low air pressure at the Tun Razak Exchange station, with works ongoing to rectify the technical problem.
Prior to trains coming to a complete halt at their respective stations, @AskRapidKL pre-empted commuters on the expected slow moving of trains at 6.48pm.
Another Twitter user @AndrewCwK47 also expressed his frustration via @PointMHD's post.
"Was heading to TRX from Bukit Bintang. Stopped for six minutes-plus halfway, then it moved but actually moved back to Bukit Bintang station.
"Been stuck here for like 30 minutes-plus.
"Announced that train will be moving slowly. But, WHEN will it going to move?" @AndrewCwK47 wrote.
Equally frustrated, Twitter user @ShidaChipsmore said she was asked to get off the train twice.
"2x got removed! The satisfaction survey announcement is really annoying @askrapidkl."
She was referring to an automated announcement in the train that asked passengers to submit their satisfactory level with RapidKL's service via a survey.
According to @PointMHD the announcement came on several times and just as passengers were told to get off the train.
At the same time, commuters described a traffic congestion that was happening on the train tracks.
A Twitter user @Lvintan tagging Transport Minister Anthony Loke wrote,"KL got the worse public transport in the world. Don't you agree @anthonyloke?"
At the time of writing, @AskRapidKL had updated its Twitter page informing commuters that trains are back in operation and running as per normal.
