KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 5 — The Communications and Digital Ministry will review the standard operating procedure for its Short Message Service (SMS) broadcast after it drew flak from Malaysians for its messages praising the government.

Acknowledging the complaints, deputy minister Teo Nie Ching was quoted as saying by Free Malaysia Today that the ministry will review the SOP for its SMS broadcast.

Through its "GOV” SMS broadcast, the ministry had sent messages describing the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led government as a "solution based on the law and Federal Constitution”.

Another SMS said the unity government was represented by "MPs of various races, religions and regions with various expertise and experiences”.

Pakatan Harapan MPs had criticised the previous government for sending similar text messages to the public, alleging that the official SMS channel was being used to spread propaganda.
