Perak Pakatan, BN form consultative committee to ensure political stability

IPOH, Dec 21 — Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) have agreed to form a consultative committee to ensure the stability of the state government.

Perak PH chairman Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof and state BN chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, in a joint statement today, said the formation of the committee was a symbol of both parties’ commitment to upholding the decree of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah that political stability should always be nurtured to ensure economic prosperity and the well-being of the people.

"The committee held its first meeting yesterday, chaired by Saarani and Mujahid,” the statement read.

The following are matters that have been agreed upon by both parties:

* Ensuring the state government remains stable until the end of the five-year term by joining hands in upholding the state constitution.

* Ensuring that the people’s welfare agenda is always prioritised by fostering the values of unity among the people under the leadership of the mentri besar and his administrative team.

* Prospering Perak with economic activities and generating state income through government administration practices that are clean, transparent, fair and responsible to all the people regardless of race and religion.

* Strengthening and utilising media channels on all platforms more effectively to convey information to the people of Perak in particular and Malaysians in general about the policies and achievements of the state government.

* To maintain harmonious relations between parties at all levels to make the state administration successful and smooth at the grassroots level.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) had agreed to form a unity government in Perak, after no single party or coalition obtained a simple majority in the Perak state election, with Perikatan Nasional (PN) winning 26 seats, PH (24) and BN (nine) in the 59-member State Assembly. — Bernama
