Pahang fully recovers from floods, says disaster committee

KUANTAN, Dec 17 — Pahang has fully recovered from the floods following the closure of all relief centres in the state today.

The Pahang State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat in a statement informed that the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sinar Mutiara in Sungai Miang, Pekan was the last to close at 11 this morning after all 141 victims from 36 families were allowed to return to their respective homes.

Apart from Pekan, the districts of Raub, Lipis, Temerloh, Jerantut and Bera were also affected when floods hit the state last week.

However, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) in a statement today said floods are expected to occur in several areas in Pahang from tomorrow night or earlier.

Among the areas to be hit from 8pm tomorrow are Kampung (Kg) Beralas, Kg Gading, Jeram Bungor and the surrounding areas and Kg Merting, Kuala Tahan and the surrounding areas

In addition, floods are expected beginning from 8am on Monday at Kg Seberang Guai, Jalan Kg Durian, Kg Bukit Imam Sulong and the surrounding areas as well as Kg Besol, Paya Gintong, Kg Batu Kawah, Kg Perian, Kg Jeransang, Kg Tanjung Betung, Kg Rial, Kg Tanah Nyior, Kg Teh, Kg Jerantut Feri and the surrounding areas. — Bernama
