KOTA KINABALU, Dec 13 — Parti Warisan has fended off renewed rumours that its Sabah assemblymen were quitting, and insisted that the party remained intact.

Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the allegations being spread online were false, malicious and intended to deceive.

"Parti Warisan held a supreme council meeting this morning in Kota Kinabalu with its elected representatives also in attendance,” he said in a statement today.

All Warisan state assemblymen attended, except for Norazlinah Arif (Kunak) and George Hiew (Karamunting), who were ostensibly attending to personal matters.

"All the assemblymen have reiterated their allegiance to the party. The party is intact and allegations of party hopping from our state assemblymen are untrue,” said Shafie.

"The rumours and claims have resurfaced again as another malicious attempt to undermine Warisan.”

Shafie also said the party’s supreme council and elected representatives unanimously pledged support to the federal unity government and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister.

The party has been battling rumours of more resignations since the coalition government was formed at the federal level.

Warisan’s Darau assemblyman Azhar Matussin denied claims on social media that he was quitting the party along with six other assemblymen.

Azhar said the rumours were untrue and deliberately played up to confuse the people.
