KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 — The Finance Ministry (MoF) could get a new secretary-general soon, according to Berita Harian.
The Malay newspaper reported Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim dropping hints yesterday when he revealed that former Petronas president and chief executive Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican is leading a team to advise the MoF on ways to restore the economy.
"Of course, we will refer to the relevant senior officials and new secretary-general,” Anwar, who is also finance minister, was quoted as saying.
The newspaper also said it understood that current secretary-general Datuk Seri Asri Hamidin has been put on leave, without citing sources.
Asri, 56, was appointed in April 2020 when Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was prime minister.
