KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin reportedly said the coalition will nominate a candidate as Opposition Leader before the special Parliament sitting convenes on December 19.
He reportedly said the decision was already made by the pact two days ago.
"We had made the decision at PN’s supreme council meeting two days ago and we had named a candidate. When the time comes we will announce before December 19,” Astro Awani quoted Muhyiddin as saying.
Muhyiddin had made the revelation at a rally in Kulim, Kedah, last night.
Yesterday, PN deputy chairman Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang also said that the pact has decided on who should be its Opposition Leader, amid debate whether he or Muhyiddin would hold the post.
While Muhyiddin is the chairman of PN, Abdul Hadi’s Islamist party PAS holds the biggest number of seats in Parliament — at 47.
