KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 — PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang today said that Perikatan Nasional (PN) plans to retake the government by winning the next general election.
He was asked to comment on Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim’s recent statement about plans to topple the current unity government.
"PN is working towards the next general election (and) with the strength that we have we will boost that.
"Let’s look at this current government’s actions, what are the rakyat’s reactions (towards) a government that I don’t even know what name to give it,” Hadi told reporters when met after having his statement recorded at the Sentul District Police Headquarters here this evening.
Yesterday during a ceramah in Padang Serai, Shahidan reportedly claimed that the current government would not last as PN is working to ensure that it can take over Putrajaya.
In the Malaysiakini report, he also said that the current Cabinet line-up was made up of "losers” and has no industry expertise.
Shahidan won Arau after defecting from Barisan Nasional (BN) and joining Perikatan Nasional (PN), following disagreement after not being named as a candidate for the said parliamentary constituency.
When asked whether there would be state elections conducted in PAS-led states, Hadi said to let the decision be made from discussion among both state’s mentris besar.
He added that the Opposition bloc has appointed its leader and that PN is expected to make an announcement soon.
Asked about DAP’s small number in the Cabinet, Hadi said most importantly the PH component party has received a lot of benefits.
"The most important thing is DAP has already gotten a lot of benefits,” he said.
