KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke said he will meet with senior management of the Kelana Jaya Light Rapid Transit (LRT) line to find ways to overcome its service issues.

Loke made an unannounced visit of the line during the peak hours between 5pm and 7pm today in order to obtain a first-hand understanding of its issues.

"The conditions in the train were very cramped and certainly uncomfortable for the passengers,” he said in a Facebook post tonight.

"I did not inform the Prasarana management and the media as I had wanted to experience for myself the actual conditions as other normal commuters in order to get a feel of what they have to go through every day.”

Loke said he empathised with LRT riders over the difficulties they faced, adding that he would meet with Prasarana this week to find ways to improve.

The train services in Klang Valley have been experiencing congestion and reliability issues, including the closure of 16 stations along the Kelana Jaya line. Loke was appointed as the new transport minister in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government last week.
