KLUANG, Nov 29 — Six people were injured in an accident after a car was hit by a four-wheel drive shortly after it collided into two cows along Kilometer 57 of the Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang road here on Sunday night.
Kluang police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the accident occurred at 7.45pm when a Perodua Bezza from Kluang was traveling towards Kota Tinggi, while the Toyota Hilux was heading towards Kluang from Kota Tinggi.
He explained that the Bezza had initially slowed due to the vehicles in front of it before a Toyota Hilux from the opposite direction collided into two cows that were crossing from the right side of the road.
"The impact caused the Toyota Hilux to lose control and skidded into the opposite lane before hitting the Perodua Bezza on the right side.
"After hitting the Perodua Bezza it skidded and hit the left shoulder sign post. The two cows were killed at the scene of the accident,” said Bahrin in a statement today.
Bahrin said investigations at the scene of the incident found that the road was straight, but dark as there were no street lights and the road shoulder was unpaved.
He said the 48-year-old driver of the Perodua Bezza, Mohd Fairulnisham Pariyonok and five passengers, namely his four children Adi Muzammil, 19; Nur Firzanah, 20; Nur Farwizah, 12 and Afiq Muzakkir, 7, were lightly injured in the legs and hands. His wife, Aziyawati Abdul Wahab, 45, was injured in the left leg and had a gash above her eye that needed stitches.
According to Bahrin, the 59-year-old Toyota Hilux driver, Qng Tiam Huat was not injured.
He explained that the accident resulted in both the Perodua Bezza and Toyota Hilux being badly damaged.
"The case is being investigated under Regulation 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (Regulation 10 LN 166/59)," he said.
