KUALA LUMPUR, November 24 — DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has barred the party from organising any victory celebrations or convoys to mark Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s appointment as Malaysia’s 10th prime minister.

Loke also urged all parties to remain calm and respect the decision of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Conference of Rulers.

"The government that will be established is a unity government that includes various coalitions of political parties,” he said in a statement.

Instead, Loke asked party members to work together in helping the prime minister to steer the country out of the crisis it is facing.

Earlier, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli also warned Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters against holding public gatherings to celebrate Istana Negara’s announcement of the PKR president as the Malaysia’s 10th prime minister.

Istana Negara issued a statement confirming Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s decision to appoint Anwar as prime minister, after days of uncertainty on who would take the top post.

Anwar has since been sworn in as the PM.
