CM: Penang recorded total investments of RM107.2b in three years

GEORGE TOWN, Nov 23 — Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow today said that the state recorded total investments of RM107.2 billion in the manufacturing sector between 2019 and 2021.

He told the state legislative assembly that the investments created a total 51,000 job opportunities in the state.

He said this is one of the successes of the state’s Penang2030 mission to form a developed and sustainable ecosystem to expand the investment base in the state.

"Since the launch of Penang2030 in August 2018, the state has emphasised the aspect of community development,” he said in reply to a question by Goh Choon Aik (PH - Bukit Tambun) on the implementation of projects under Penang2030.

Chow said various activities and programmes under Penang2030 were launched by government-linked corporations such as Penang Women Development Corporation, Penang Youth Development Corporation, Penang Green Council, Penang Harmony Corporation and Digital Penang.

Among events held included Dahdigital, Youthforall, Relanita, Usahawan Wanita, Coding Bootcamp and e-sports.

He said the state has also established Penang2030 centres based on the concept of shared spaces to implement various social activities at the respective constituency.

As for the state’s LovePENANG campaign, he said it was based on one of the strategic initiatives under Penang2030 to create more platforms and involve the public in social development activities.
