TAMBUN, Nov 15 — Former Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa has finally addressed the elephant in the room that is the split among Malay voters, causing problems for Barisan Nasional (BN) mission to recapture Putrajaya after the upcoming general election (GE15).
The axed Umno warlord pleaded that there was still time for winds of change to side with BN if the voters are more careful in choosing their preferred coalition.
"If that trend continues, that would certainly pose a danger as far as BN is concerned.
"Our failure to bring together Malaysians of different races and especially the Malays, that will definitely weaken us,” he told reporters at the party’s headquarters here to rally support for BN Tambun parliamentary and state assembly candidates.
He also said that it would be strategically wise for Perikatan Nasional (PN) supporters to cast their ballots in favour of BN.
"Tambun for example, I believe that the voters are still with us. And I would like to appeal to the Bersatu and PAS supporters to strategically vote for us for this campaign,” he added.
Annuar arrived in Tambun in support of the underdog BN parliamentary candidate Datuk Aminuddin Md Hanafiah who is up against incumbent PN’s Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) Abdul Rahim Tahir.
Annuar was among a few others including BN Selangor state chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar and caretaker federal territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim that was left behind by Umno from contesting the upcoming GE15.
