KUCHING, November 12 —Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said he will provide evidence that military personnel in Bera were allegedly paid RM300 each for their vote in caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s constituency, to the Election Commission (EC).
The Pakatan Harapan chairman reiterated that he has reliable information of this allegation, and that military personnel in Bera have already cast their ballots despite early voting on being held on Nov 15.
"EC has asked me to hand over the information and I will hand it over to them,” he told reporters here.
He said the EC should investigate the information.
Anwar then urged the Defence Ministry to review claims he received such as a lack of budget for uniforms and ammunition.
Yesterday, EC had urged those with information on the alleged corruption involving postal voting in the Bera parliamentary constituency to contact the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
The statement was issued after Anwar alleged military personnel in Bera had already cast their votes, even before early voting has been held.
He further claimed to have reliable information that some of these military personnel were paid RM300 each in the constituency of caretaker prime minister.
Ismail Sabri has dismissed the claim as a lie and demanded that Anwar apologise to the Malaysian Armed Forces.
