IPOH, Nov 9 — Perak Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu today said that there was confusion among some voters in the Tambun constituency who did not know that he is contesting the 15th general election on a PN ticket.

Ahmad Faizal, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president, said he had encountered a few people who thought he was representing Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

"The support is quite good, but we need to continue our work. We must approach the rakyat and explain to our efforts for them.

"Among the problem we encountered during the meeting with the voters here is that they are not aware that I am representing PN now.

"They gave their full support to me, but at the same time, said they would be voting for PH. They are thinking I am still under the PH banner like in the previous election,” he told a press conference during his visit to Tambun here as part of his election campaign.

Ahmad Faizal said that the same applied to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s supporters in the constituency who wanted to vote for BN as they are not aware of political developments.

"They think Muhyiddin is still with BN. Similarly, some think that I am also with BN.

"They are confused since I was with the government and Perak was led by a mentri besar from BN as well as a prime minister who is also from BN, so they think I am with BN now too.

"They did not know that Umno rejected the Muafakat Nasional cooperation with PAS and Bersatu,” he said.

While noting that the misunderstanding only involved a small minority, Ahmad Faizal, however, said the discovery was still significant and the problem must be tackled immediately.

"We must persist in introducing PN to our voters. The voters need to know why we choose PN and they need to know that we are under PN banner now,” he said.
