GEORGE TOWN, Nov 3 — Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir today said that none of the coalition's 13 candidates for the state signed any letters to support Umno president and BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be the prime minister.

He dismissed talks of such a letter as fake and manufactured by BN’s political opponents.

"These are all lies, there is no such letter or agreement, all 13 candidates here did not sign anything,” he told reporters after introducing the 13 BN candidates in Penang here.

He said the BN leadership has already discussed and decided that caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri will remain as prime minister if they win this election.

"The Opposition parties do not have any issues to raise, so they are using this to try to divide us,” he said.

He pointed out that Ahmad Zahid had announced from the beginning that Ismail Sabri will remain as prime minister.

"I’m sure people can see and evaluate for themselves,” he said.

He said BN hopes for GE15 to be a friendly match with its political opponents.

"We do not want to descend into gutter politics, we will only raise issues related to policies such as the promises they made in the previous manifesto that they failed to fulfill,” he said.

On Monday, online news portal The Vibes reported that Zahid has been going state by state to give out credential letters to BN candidates but allegedly with the condition that they sign a pledge to support him as prime minister.

On Tuesday, Zahid denied that candidates were made to sign such a pledge.
