KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 — Kelantan Perikatan Nasional (PN) announced tonight that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayshal Wan Ahmad Kamal will contest the Machang parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15).
Wan Fayhsal will slug it out against incumbent Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub from Barisan Nasional (BN) who won the last election in 2018 when he beat PAS and Bersatu with a 2,824 majority.
"I accept this decision with repentance and gratitude. God willing, I will do my best for the people of Machang and the people of Kelantan,” he posted on Twitter.
Previously, Wan Fayhsal was speculated to be contesting in Titiwangsa.
On the contrary, incumbent Bachok MP Nik Abduh, the son of the late PAS spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, was left out of the line-up, along with incumbent Tumpat MP Che Abdullah Mat Nawi.
The other candidates revealed tonight were PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan who will defend Kota Baru in GE15, facing Umno’s Datuk Rosmadi Ismail.
Caretaker religious affairs deputy minister Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary will also be defending his seat in Pengkalan Chepa, while PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man will defend Kubang Kerian.
Also defending their seats are caretaker deputy women, family, and community development minister Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff in Rantau Panjang and Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh in Pasir Puteh.
