KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates for federal seats in Terengganu and Kelantan will named by PAS at a later date, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said tonight.
After the event to announce the coalition’s candidates for the 15th general election, the PN chairman said the Islamist party would unveil its candidates possibly "tomorrow or the day after”.
"I want to announce here that the PN seat negotiations concluded very smoothly, with mutual respect,” he said at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition here.
"How would you have guessed that PAS and Bersatu could sit at the same table. But now we have become friends that are close enough... like siblings.”
After a period of uncertainty during which PAS had dallied with Umno, the Islamists finally committed to PN and Muhyiddin’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) last month.
In total, PN will be contesting 169 parliamentary seats, with Bersatu challenging for the most, at 74 seats, followed by PAS with 64 seats, Gerakan with 20 seats, and other PN-allied components with 11 seats.
