KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 20 — Bersatu will contest the Hulu Terengganu parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15), said Terengganu PAS election director Ariffin Deraman.
The decision took into account the GE14 results, he told reporters during a press conference today.
"Based on the status quo, Bersatu (will contest) in Hulu Terengganu because that is their parliamentary (seat),” he said.
Ariffin said there was no issue in the distribution of seats in Terengganu due to the good cooperation in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition among its component parties namely PAS, Bersatu, Gerakan, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).
Of the eight parliamentary seats in Terengganu, PAS controls five seats while Barisan Nasional (Umno), Bersatu and an independent lawmaker control one each.
On the use of the PAS logo by Bersatu, Ariffin said a decision has been made regarding the matter, adding that PAS machinery will assist Bersatu candidate in the campaign. — Bernama
