KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has today lambasted Umno Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, in escalating acrimony between the two former allied parties in Muafakat Nasional (MN).

In a short Facebook post, Tuan Ibrahim denied Asyraf’s claim that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) had offered PAS several seats to contest in the 15th general election, purportedly leading the Islamist party to choose Bersatu over Umno.

"Rambling and breaking a promise,” he posted.

"There was no discussion about the offer of 47 seats from Bersatu, there was even a warning against spreading photos of the closed-door meeting.”

Last week, Asyraf claimed that his party’s negotiations for political cooperation with PAS failed over seat allocations, after Bersatu allegedly promised PAS 47 "winnable” seats.

Asyraf also posted photos of Umno’s top two leaders, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, in a meeting with their PAS counterparts, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Tuan Ibrahim during their meeting on October 12.

Last week, PAS reaffirmed its commitment to ally with Bersatu in Perikatan Nasional despite repeated overtures to team up with Umno for the general election, which the Islamist party asserted is for the sake of the Muslim community in the country.

However, Umno has repeatedly said that it will not work with PAS as long as the latter is allied with Bersatu.
