JOHOR BARU, Oct 13 — Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad today said that the coalition is confident of emulating its performance in the Johor state polls for the coming 15th general election (GE15).

Hasni said they are confident because voters are aware that there was a need for a strong and stable government, which was proven when the ruling coalition won the Johor state elections this year.

"Johor is aware that efforts to restore the socio-economics of the people in the state need to be based on the people’s complete trust in the government.

"We can see how the mandate received in the recent Johor state election has enabled the state administration to implement various pro-people initiatives with better response, confidence and consistency,” he said in a statement.

He was commenting on BN’s chances in GE15 after the dissolution of the 14th Parliament on Monday paved the way for early polls.

Hasni said that when Umno and BN managed to secure more than a two-thirds majority of the 56 state constituency seats in Johor, it was an achievement for both the party, the people and the state.

"Insya-Allah (God willing), we will give our best to win the parliamentary seats contested by BN. This is because Johor needs greater representation in the Federation,” he said.

Hasni, who is also the Johor Umno chief, explained that a greater representation will help drive the state’s prosperity in line with Johor BN’s efforts and other state development agendas.

"I believe, together we will do it again,” said the Benut assemblyman.

In addition, Hasni also added that the Umno Supreme Council meeting had made a decision to use "Stability and Prosperity” as the main theme in BN’s GE15 manifesto.

Stability, he said, is the main and most important ingredient in ensuring the prosperity of a country and smooth administration.

"It is still fresh in my mind, how Johor was unable to govern well because it is always subject to the mercy of party politics.

"Although at that time we implemented three economic stimulus packages of over RM400 million and reopened the Johor-Singapore border periodically, the post-Covid-19 recovery required a stable mandate and strong administration,” he added.
